It's my understanding that you can go fishing just as long as you maintain a social distance of at least 6 feet from other people who don’t live in your household(you can fish with a family member), including during travel to and from a fishing spot,

Debra Hmmmm, saw hundreds of vehicles on the road at all hours today. My wife golfed today and said course was packed, don’t think it’s quite as strict as you make it seem!

"Tx Tree Grower]This insanity has to stop. It's so easy to enjoy the outdoors without exposing a single person. I will not be told to stay at home. I will put no person at risk by any action I take. Most of these orders are written purposefully vague. In my opinion they are more about avoiding lawsuits down the road than anything else. There is nothing worse on the mind and body than sitting around indoors all day for weeks. Sadly that is what many are doing right now. No telling where the mental state of our country will be in a few weeks when people come out of their caves only to realize they still have a stack of bills, no paycheck, and the virus is still here. Working it's way through our population like it is inevitably going to do anyway."
You nailed it exactly!
I had a conversation with the county commissioner about closing public ramp on Medina. Did my best to remain respectful, yet disapproving as the reason for closing was very lame. I get it we all have to do our part, but closing a park with a public ramp in the name of social distancing? Sorry I don't accept that explanation. By the way he did say someone already drove through the gate. I politely told him that is because the closure was uncalled for. No I did not do it. Fishing is not essential to most of us, but it would appear that some agencies are using this crisis to further their agenda. Maybe I am clueless.

Just read this too....
Updated 2 hours ago HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo issued a Stay Home - Work Safe Order for Harris County residents effective at midnight to help fight the spread of COVID-19.
Essential Activities: Tasks related to your health and safety or that of your family, such as filling prescriptions, visiting a health care professional or getting supplies in order to work from home Getting necessary supplies or services for yourself or your family, such as buying groceries or pet food Engaging in outdoor activities, like walking, running, biking, hiking or fishing
Last one on the list is FISHING! I would hope that everywhere that issues a stay at home order would allow it too

To me it should be criminal to outlaw fishing at a time like this. There is no safer place than to be out on the lake. Keep social distance at the ramp and it should be 100% fine. Mental health is just as important as physical health. AMEN TO THAT!!! Fishing is the reason I maintain sanity!

Regarding this, I will not be a prisoner.
House arrest is house arrest.
I am quite capable of determining my level of safety and what needs to happen in order to maintain it.
Incidentally, I LOVE social distancing....stay away from me when I am fishing.

Not sure where you are located as this is for San Antonio and Bexar County and I am only repeating what I saw on TV this afternoon at 630. And in response to your reply it goes into effect tonight at 11:59pm so yes today probably so on hundreds of vehicles and a packed golf course. Debra

TX Tree Grower has hit the nail squarely on the head. You know it’s always about liability, power, and money. I say it’s a perfect time to get outside and enjoy your time off in the least likely place you’ll expose or be exposed to the virus...your boat and the great outdoors.
