Anyone running the G3 Ultra Chip on a 93sv plus?
If so what do you think about it?

I asked garmin about doing that, this was their response. something tells me the person responding was not very knowledgeable.

I would like to upgrade my 2 93sv plus units without spending another 400.00 for 2 cards, is there any way to do this? specifically I just need oklahoma/texas lakes. this is what I got from navionics chat. You can visit lakes.garmin.com to see what lakes we cover and in what capacity. The G3 Lakevu Ultra will have some lakes with Satellite imagery among other features. Our new G3 charts have some Navionics data implemented, and that data will increase as we continue to update the charts year to year. But no the Navionics specific charts are not compatible with Garmin devices.

they have the lakes but not the extras my platinum card had, that is what I wanted to upgrade to.
got me confused now, the navionics site shows garmin under cards, lakevu g3 ultra was what I was looking at. or am I missing something on my loaded maps? sat overlay avail for instance? just got these units so not familiar with all the stuff yet.

The Navionics agent was correct when telling you that their charts will not work on Garmin chart plotters. You need a Garmin chart for your units. You are wanting to get Lakes in OK, and Texas. Your units the 93sv have built in lake charts. Have you powered the units on to see if they already have those lakes covered. You can also review this website https://lakes.garmin.com/

none of that made any sense to me, garmin now owns navionics and lists the g3 cards, then I got told they won't work in my units?


gonna wait for a used to come up for sale and just get the g3 ultra.

I'm a little confused after reading that conversation also.
A few tidbits of info that I have run across but have not verified is....

-The G3 Ultra will work on the 9 series units but DO NOT download the card. It will painfully slow the unit down.
- If the units are connected with a data cable you can view the maps on both units but the chip has to remain in the unit it was registered for.
-Supposedly you can get a Ultra card and a Garmin Home port account and make maps for your 9's.

still learning mine, the mapping feature is gonna be next.
I plan on calling and talking to someone in person at garmin about the ultra card, I would like to know what features it adds and if any are worth the money.

going to try to figure out if the 2 units will link via the wifi today.

I have a uhd 93 and a uhd 94 that are linked. They will not share maps between them only waypoints and tracks, which doesn’t help me much in freshwater since the 94 has blue charts. They share the transducer perfectly though. Not sure about sharing a map from a micro sd card.

Well I'm done with map shopping right now. Just picked up another 93sv from BPS with a data cable. That will get me up to 1 93 on the bow and 2 at the console. For now I will be linking the bow unit to one on the console until I can locate a ethernet hub and a couple more cables.
