I use Milo covered with water, no sugar or yeast for catfish chum, if I were to pour the water off it the same "maggots" appear. They are actually more like a little caterpillar not slimy around 3/4 inch long. They usually just end up as part of the chum.

Yup! Milo does it. They do have that rough hide more like a caterpillar. Tougher than many soft plastics to tell you the truth.
