That’s a very broad question and the answer is it depends. What time of year, what lake, lakes or creeks? It just depends. On lakes, small 1/2oz slabs with a jig tied above it is a good option, during the spawn you Can’t breath wrong around those fish they’re so spooky at times. Creeks you use 4 lb test and 1/16 oz jigs or 1/8 oz rooster tails or very small rattle traps or crankbaits.

I use a chartruse little george , crome and blue rattle trap. If they are on the bottom then I use a white slab these usually work.

What's go to lure for sand bass Search the forum for Dennis Christian. He has a tried and true system that enables him to use one type of bait year round. Myself if I can only have one bait it's a shad shaped jigging spoon.

Can’t go wrong with a chrome or white slab.

If it's a creek on the shallow side, I can't tell you or I'd have to kill you but it beats anything anybody will mention. A clouser type on a fly rod or cheated with a regular rod/reel is the next best productive unless they're sluggish/tight-lipped after a cold front and held up in deeper holes. A lot of folks will go to a fluke-style bait or whatever jig and work it real slow or bounce it off the bottom. But I've outcaught these folks many of times with slightly faster erratic actions. If it's deeper than usual but not too deep a rat-l-trap or Mirrolure 4M are hard to beat. Deep water vertical my fav is Little George. It just works.

Slabs during the day, Mepps white spinners in the evening on sand points shallow water
call it what you will...he is not definitely not anywhere near the top of the list for QB's that I would choose needing a FG or touchdown drive late in the game.
