I caught limits on Monday and Tuesday this week. They were at Saint Annes point West, Saint Annes Drop-off and 60 Acre Hump. I'm catching more and more big ones - 14 - 16 inches and heavy with eggs. Also catching more with cut marks on them from spawning. On Monday I hooked two big hybrids but both pulled off half way to the boat. That's the first hybrids I've hooked in a couple of months. I believe the fish that went up the creeks are starting to return.

Was our yesterday afternoon from 2:15 til 4:45 and caught 41 countable fish - white bass mostly between 10 and 11 inches but a few 14 to 15 inches and a nice yellow bass. Also caught 3 to 4 dinks for every countable fish. Found them at Saint Annes Point West in 20 fow, Saint Annes Drop-off in 20 fow, Campbell's Hump in 17 to 22 fow and Dam Drop-off in 15 fow. Most were caught fishing straight down and a few were caught casting out and working back along the bottom. Still using Mepps #4 silver plain Aglia spinner spinning the blade my moving the rod up or dragging it sideways with bait on the bottom with fish showing on scope. Fish are still hard to see on sidescan - hugging bottom too closely and scattered along bottom. So, like I've been doing lately, I use my sonar to look for little bumps along the bottom, switching back and forth from split screen with map and normal magnification and split screen with normal plus magnified magnification - usually X2 but sometimes X4. Tapping my foot on the boat deck helps bring them and keep them under the boat. Tap lightly in shallower water (15-17 fow) and harder in deeper water (20+ fow).

DC thank you for the scouting reports.

Today I fished the following locations:
1. Dam Drop off: 18-20 fow. 5 fish vertical jigging in 30 minutes.
2. St. Annes from off, St Annes East and West: could not find them
3. Flagpole: 15 in about 45 minute. 18-20 fow. 1/2 caught vertical jigging. other half caught w cast and retrieve

I agree with DC. They are hugging the bottom in about 18-22 feet. When you pick them up on 2D sonar or down imaging, hit the spot lock and start fishing. You can pick them up on livescope, but hard to see until you start vertical jigging.

Finally got a chance to make it down here for a few hours, and the wind just calmed down! On the hunt for some whites and hybrids and recommendations?

I don't think so. Ramps were pretty packed Sunday when I drove past them. Lots of trailors.

Got out yesterday from 1 to 5 PM on Cedar Creek Lake with friends Ed and Paul. They have been fishing buddies for years and both have switched to the Mepps method for catching white bass in Texas lakes. I had been seeing more signs of fish spawning on main lake points in shallower (9 to 13 fow) water, and the fish there were running bigger than the 10 to 12 inch fish we had been catching in the 18 to 25 fow winter pattern. So that was what we went looking for. We started at Key Ranch Drop-off, marked just a few hugging the bottom in 13 fow and stopped to see if we could catch them. We ended up catching about a dozen good fish there.

Then we moved to Key Ranch North and found even more there including a 19 inch hybrid. We left there with our count up to about 35 (We had to put up with one dink for every 2 good fish). From there we checked out Old Pond Dam, Merimac Point, Kevin’s Point and Carolyn Estates Point and found no fish. Next stop was Pole Dance Point, and we caught another 31 there in 12 to 15 fow.

Our last stop was Saint Annes Point East – not at the tip of it but back toward the shore where the crown of the point was only 9 fow. We caught about 20 more there including two more 18-19 inch hybrids. Our total for the trip was 81 whites, the 3 hybrids and a 16 inch crappie.
A lot of the fish had cuts on them indicating they had been or were spawning. Many of the females still had their eggs. Water temp was 66 to 68 degrees, and we all were using #4 silver Mepps plain Aglia spinners tied directly to our lines. All fish were caught casting away from the boat and working the Mepps back along the bottom. Obviously, I located the fish first then positioned the boat so we could cast to the fish.
Below are some pictures of the trip.

Noteworthy: Many of you know Mike Oser, who had a bait business catering to white bass/hybrid/striper fishermen. Mike got out of the bait business and now designs and maintains web sites – many for fishing guides. Well, for our Cedar Creek Lake white bass tournament and auction last year Mike donated a web design service for our auction. I happened to win the bid, and had Mike completely redo my web site. This is the web site I reference in my signature block. I urge you to check it out for the quality of Mike’s work, and, because in this day and time as we are facing down the coronavirus and its threat to us, the content of the site is particularly poignant.

Thanks for the report Dennis. I went out yesterday as well with a not so great of a report as you. Did not go past the spillway area though. Stopped at sunken island and only caught 1 fish. I was marking fish shallow 8 to 10 ft. as well. Moved to the tennis courts and again, marked fish shallow there also. Could only manage a couple of fish there. There was another gentleman there that was catching a few fish. Moved on to Game warden, with no luck there. Last stop was the spillway hump, but no big concentrations of fish that I found. Guess I was not holding my mouth right or something. Marked quite a few fish, but could not seem to get them to bite. I was also using #4 silver Mepps.

Great reports guys. I am headed that way early Tuesday morning. I don't know the lake or where any of those locations are so any guidance is very appreciated. I plan to fish the main part of the lake... and I have a ttop on my boat. I am planning to launch at the county ramp on the north end of 198. Is that a low bridge like the 334 bridge? Suggest a better ramp if that might be an issue for me. Thank you in advance!
