The Spawn is like church and Easter. People come out once a year to participate.

It’s funny because it’s arguably the worst time of the year to fish for them

Yep, I wish they would just stay home. flame

Turns the ramps into a circus, little to no boating manners on the water, and so much for finding a quiet place to fish without someone following you then fishing right on top of you! mad

I agree with Jim Sr. I’d rather fish for them on deep structure. I caught fish on Lake Fork in January that were suspended in trees 28’ down in 50’+ water and had a blast doing it. If I take the boat out this weekend I’ll likely spend the day scouting new water in search of brush piles and natural timber structure for post spawn fishing. The truth is it’s all fun no matter how deep they are.

I can put a limit in the boat a whole lot easier in May/June in 10-18 fow than I can in March or April in 1-12 fow.

For sure. I would rather the water be 90 degrees and the lake a couple of feet low. But, I will say that it was a blast last Saturday catching them in 12-18" of water with a slip bobber. Down here in So. TX. I'm thinking that the spawn is almost over with. There may be a few stragglers with a smaller wave of fish to push up but the major is pretty much done. The reason I say that is because out of the 22 fish that hit the chest there was only one female in the bunch. My thought is that the males were just in there guarding.

The spawn doesn’t start till next month though

Over the years, I have fished for them less and less during the spawn. Too all over and the sandbass are way easier.

Ain't this the truth... It is feast or famine for me. If they are up in the shallows in a couple spots I know about, I can do good; if they aren't, I may not catch single fish. Some lakes are harder to catch them shallow than others too.

Made the slow ride to the north end of Roberts on Monday and got skunked. Coming out found them in a creek bend in 17 FTW but didn't have time to go try them. Going to go out today and just work on fine tuning the livescope and using my side image to look for schooled up fish. Going to be an electronics tutorial kind of day.
