Fished with friend Lloyd, and met up with Chris (doctorxring) at Fayette yesterday...started out FOGGY and had to wait about an hour to get across the lake due to visibility. Turned out to be an awesome day with little wind, overcast conditions and the return of the bluegills. Water temp from 76-79 degrees have them returning with a vengeance. We ended up with over 100 sunfish, around 25 bass, and a 7.1 lb catfish. Most fish caught on the Gulp Alive 1" minnows & red wriggler worms. The bigger fish came on the Gulp Alive including the catfish & a bass over 6 lbs. All sunfish plus the catfish & large bass caught on ultra-lite tackle & 6 lb Stren flourocarbon line. Drags they were a singin ! [Linked Image]

Wow! Great day for sure. You have me convinced to try the Gulp minnows. I’ve tried other Berkley bait substitutes and have just never done very good.

Bills...Were you there on Tuesday...I know you were talking about going ?

Fish The Bite...We use the 1" minnows & the chartreuse shad color seems to work the best, but have caught fish on all colors.

Chuck...The heat is for sure on, although 4 of the best spots from last year still had no sunfish...the water was 3 degrees cooler in those areas & still 2 feet low, so the bite is not really in full swing yet. Also I cleaned 5 fish that had swallowed the hook, and none of them had eggs yet. Very small egg sacs with little to no development...

The spawn is on in certain water bodies especially in a couple of creeks I have been fishing at. Seen Bluegill and a few Redbreast already on nest. The rivers I have fished, I have not seen any sign of spawning at this time. Plan of venturing out some the next couple of days. Weather permitting. thumb

It's amazing how well these 1" Gulp Minnows work for perch. I'm going to try the larger Gulp Minnows for bass. Especially
after Steve caught that 6 pounder one a small one. grin (Side Note - I don't think the Berkley Power Bait products are the same technology as Gulp)

The formula is probably different, but both (Power Bait & Gulp Alive) are made by Berkley. I have also caught quite a few catfish on the Gulp Alive, including the 7.1 pounder this week.

BILLS...Now that you have a fish cleaning house it's time to put those errands on the back burner and put it to use !

Thanks Gitter...It's been a long winter, but they are finally starting to show their faces in 8-12 feet of water...

I had head that the LCRA might be closing the ramps on Fayette. Any truth to this?
