Ok.. I moved to Texas in 2013. I have fished Fork once, 20 years ago with my nephew. A lot of you guys fish it all the time and some of you maybe this week! I've heard many of you talk about how it can be a fickle lady and others that have whacked them there. I get that it is a huge bass lake and it was made for bass fishing. My question is that there are 80 boats out there, and about a third of them are whacking them and about 2/3rds are just catching fish. Would that be about normal based on average fishing numbers? Are the techniques that the guys that are whacking them any different from what you guys would be doing this time of year?

Just curious, thanks

Some are throwing a frog. Not many would be doing that if I had to guess.

This is the time of year where a large percentage of the fish in that lake are in a very small percentage of water. You get in the right area and you’ll whack em. Most lakes are like that right now.

This is right on^^ Fish are moving up, some creeks arms are going to be better then others but all will have fish in them.

Why have they not cancelled this tournament yet with 2 days remaining?

Wheeler never got into them I guess.. I didn't get to watch much this afternoon. He was throwing a frog I think in period 2 and not having much success.

I watched a whole lot of it today. First time I have tuned in to MLF and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Real cool format. I’ll be watching more in the future. To answer OP’s question, everybody is fishing shallow and that’s what I’d be doing. I would start trying to sight fish, but the Fork fish that I’m used to are just too spooky to catch. Maybe it’s because I get on ladders whereas the pros are on their knees. I would try a grass pig from Berkley and see how fogged up I could get the lens, and then try and yell the lens off the camera when I caught a good one. I still love that guy whether he’s a showboat or not. He’s entertaining. Amazing how Coulter located the loaded area. Good thing he was able to bypass the knockout round cause his areas were pretty much worn out. He gonna rest his back and win it on Athens on Wed.

They just hit Fork at the perfect time. Seemed to be a major wave of fish move up the night before and day of tournament. Made it easy for most of those guys. I was really impressed with Coulter. I wish I was better at finding transition spots like that. That was impressive.

It’s always been feast or famine for me. I had some long miserable days out there catching 1 ofr zer0 and days of 30-40 fish with 10-15 4 and 5 pounders

Why would they?

There is no large gathering of people or they could do it without gathering in large groups. thumb

Like Okie I have never watched MLF before but this has been pretty cool and will watch more often. Probably would have been doing much the same and did two weeks ago. The thing I would have done differently than most is what Coulter did ..... Fish off shore staging spots. Two Fridays ago we had 16 off a staging spot and were only able to fish it 2 hours or so. If I had Friday draw sight/shallow fish would have been first choice with staging back up plan. Also see I need to go back to Texas Rigged smaller baits. Have fallen into throwing big jigs and moving baits too much/often. Can’t recall last time I threw Texas Rig. Based on what I am hearing they should crush them on Athens sight fishing.......but would also have a staging area back up plan there.
