I see that the Co-Angler for the MLFLW Toyota Series Southwestern Division won a Phoenix 518 Pro. Is this a new model that Phoenix has coming down the pipe? I can't find anything on that model online. FLW Link

It is. But I’ve never seen one. And with a Suzuki? Bet he has it for sale ASAP.

Suzuki’s have always been bullet proof and world wide have always had a huge following especially in salt water. Never understood why they haven’t been more prevalent in the USA fresh water scene. 35 years ago my first bass boat, a Tidecraft Spitfire had an 85 Suzuki oil injected motor. It was amazing......the boat? Not so much.

I though about getting a Zuki, but they don’t make a 20” 225hp motor. I’m guessing a 518 must be very entry level?

Gotta be 17.5 feet or smaller with a 115hp.

Saw one today. Brand new boat. An 18 ft with dual poles. Looked good. It was charcoal, black, and neon green colored. Older couple fishing from it.
Never mind. It was probably a 618.

Some manufacturers make boats to give away in tournaments that they don't sell. I bought a Ranger like that once. Brand new after it was won. I asked a dealer about it and he had to contact the Ranger rep to find out about it.

I wanted the Suzuki over the SHO for the Majek Extreme. Seen way too many SHO issues. The guys I know hat run Suzuki haven’t had any issues. May not be as fast but can pass up the pump and mechanic pretty well.

So I'm the one that won this boat. And I still don't have possession of it. Phoenix has a bunch of stories (last minute deal with FLW, busy at the classic, waiting on a part from Suzuki,....) I called FLW and they said they have nothing to do with it, that its between me and Phoenix. Didn't I pay my entry fee to FLW? Has really put a damper on what should have been a good experience. And I'm afraid it is only going to get worse when I try to find a buyer for a small boat with an under powered Suzuki. Maybe I shouldn't complain because it's still got to be better than 2nd but has been a little ridiculous. Not impressed with FLW post the MLF deal.
