Just looked on the Texas reservoir site.
They have dropped Amistad a little over 5 feet in 30 days. sick
Once again it could not happen at a worse time for reproduction. Wonder how many people on the Mexico side got washed out in there sleep.

Going to release more. Supposed to slow it down soon for just a little bit then start releasing again. I've heard down to close to 45-50 ft low.

Why would they lower the water level 45-50 ft ? That seems kinda crazy , unless there is a major leak somewhere and it needs to be taken care of ?

Supposed to be for the farmers but usually the gates are open at falcon and the majority goes in the gulf.

They do it every year at some point. The amount varies (don't know why)
Worst case scenario is if they drop it so fast the hydrilla cant keep up. It only recently rebounded from several years ago when they drooped it almost 70 feet in one year. It virtually killed all the hydrilla and the fishing.
This year the hydrilla was not growing as deep as it normally does.. Depending on water clarity and area of the lake the outer edges were from 12 to 18 feet... Since they have already pulled 5' that only leaves 8 to 10 more before its high and dry. With that said when conditions are right hydrilla can be amazing about re-sprouting when the coots keep it pulled up.. When can only hope it keeps up and enough fish spawn deep so they don't lose an entire spawn..

Look on Google Maps on satellite view and see the millions of acres of crops on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande River from Falcon to the coast and you might have a better educated guess.

Slowing release effective 3/18 from 190 CMS to 130 CMS (MX side). Effective 3/27 from 130 CMS (MX side) to 3 CMS. US side has not changed release for a while still at 50 CMS. Should stabilize within a couple weeks.

Meanwhile Falcon has caught just over a foot of water in the last two weeks.. But we know it ain't going to stay here..

Yesterday Falcon was releasing 78 CMS on American side..
125 CMS on Mexican side..

Water in the ditches down south..

Pray for rain... If you're the praying type..

Good news.
Looks like a pretty good system coming across at El Paso.. Anything on the Rio should help if it even makes it to Amistad.
