Actually it’s my first but it’s still my PB!

Didn’t have my scales or a tape measure for accuracy but it was 42-44 inches long.

Nice.

What technique/rods/bait were used?

I am probably the only person who struggles catching carp!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Yeah, it was a pretty good fight! Wish I had my scales.

Sean, nothing special gear wise. Just 6’ spinning outfits. I usually use them for catfishing when I’m expecting smaller ones with smaller baits. One rod is an ugly stick and one reel is a $24 I got at Wal-Mart.

I used a method mix of rolled oats, a package of strawberry cool aid, and creamed corn on a poor man’s method feeder. I can’t take credit for the feeder though. I saw it on the Catfish and Carp YouTube channel.

I used pretty much the same bait mix you had, Dfitz but mine came out real sticky and I didn’t even add the Big Red. Did you use one can or two of creamed corn?

I ended up with 7 commons and the 1 grasser over the weekend. Including a double on my own!

None were real big but we all know a 3# carp can provide a lot of entertainment. It’s probably a good thing they don’t show the theatrics like bass do or those green fisherman would target these instead!

Thanks...my rigs look EXACTLY like yours and from the same source. I just haven't caught any carp with my yet.

Nice job.

I am thinking of hitting up Amistad for carp, everyone says it has some monsters. I made one trip out there on the rough canyon side, but got skunked.

Thanks again for detailing your rigs and the cool pics.

Awesome! I played around with those homemade method feeders when I was first starting out. They work decently well, but you definitely need to be a bit more delicate when casting.

Sean, I would try out the Nueces if I were you! Places with big fish are usually very tough fishing and it can take multiple trips to catch one or two. If I were to hit up Amistad I'd go for at least 5 days if not longer.
