tried for the first time yesterday 30lb braid on spinning reel with a 10lb flouro leader. I liked it. and I fish a lot of clear water also.

I believe this is very important as braid can cut like a knife.

Again, thanks everyone for advice on my original post. As it's going to be my wife who has very little experience dragging a worm or carolina rig my guess is she'll be getting caught up quite a bit so being able to break off a lighter leader is good advice. Now, I looked up the blood knot and it looks reasonably easy. I'm not a knot expert. Is there a quicker/easier knot to attach braid to fluoro? Is there a "in a boat-winds blowing-she's yelling at me-I'd rather be fishing" kind of quick knot?

Triple surgeon is an easy knot, I used it before I started using the crazy alberto knot. Besides all the other reasons listed here for using a leader, I like one because it comes over cover easier, braid has a tendency to dig into wood or easily wrap around limbs.

To catch more fish, that's why.

Never seen it make a difference. I'll stick with straight braid on frogs, chatter baits and piching.
