If you have a 4 wheel drive there is a road that goes below. 377 bridge. Take cowboy drive and when you cross the railroad tracks take the road to the left. There is a mud spot that is impassable with a 2wd truck. The darn hill seems to always weap water so there is always a darn mud hole. This will save about 4 miles of rowing. If you have a day you can put in at i35 and paddle down to 377 bridge. There is good fishing from 377 up to Henrietta hole right now..

Thanks I appreciate the info. I do have a good 4wd. I guess I could put in on 377 at the bridge and just park in the big lot. I've never launched there, but I assume it's doable. I'll look on the map for Cowboy drive...Thanks again

There is a area below the bridge that you can park at, but it might be safer to park at the bike path parking across the street if you are worried about vandalism. I haven't heard of anyone having trouble. I have front and rear 1080p dashcams which will identify anything needed in court. Be safe, get those kids outside, and God Bless. I do see roanoke and flowermound police in the bike path (knob hill) parking lot several times a day.

The GW has made it clear to not park under the bridge, I’ve seen him warn a few but will more than likely start writing tickets

Me and my Son went above Henrietta Hole about 1 mile @ 830am: Location above. Nothing here, worked every hole downward until we came to the bend just above the Hole and caught a nice Crappie. HERE:Above Hole. No Sandbass caught above & in the Hole. Came down a skosh to here and caught one nice Crappie Here: Lone Stick where there was a lone stick poking out of the water. Worked down and caught a few with the tiny trap @ here: Lone tree . Dragging the tiny trap on the rocks middle of the creek just above the step picked up @ 5 sandies. From the next bend down you can catch solid fish but its spotty. With the bright moon the morning bite is good and the evening bite is good but the rest of the day you are going to work. In my opinion I wouldnt go up in the day. From here: Long Stretch down the morning bite is going to be the best (currently). But I would honestly stay in the spot I pinpointed on the first post because we worked all the way here and caught 20 solid fish. We left before the evening bite. I did catch a few fish on a jig today, but the rest were bumping the bottom with the tiny trap. We pulled up to the spot I referenced earlier and there was a bass boat working the spot with jigs. They left and we fished the same spot with a trap and caught 20. We did not go down from there but we did see boats catching fish down from us. This step Prop Scar is tricky. Saw a boat grind a prop all the way thru. Do not know what he was thinking other than he was digging a trench with his motor.. It was really bad seeing him dig his way thru the rocks. When you go up the step, you need to hug the tree because its deepest closest to the tree.. I wish I would have recorded the prop polishing. Anyhoo, long story short I would not go up at this point, its too early. In two weeks it might be worth it but stay @ the location pinpointed last week and you will catch fish.. The moon is affecting the bite at this point. Take care and have fun.. We kept 3 chunk Crappie, and released 68 sandies today..

. . . its too early . . . released 68 sandies . . .

Just a grindingly-slow, 70-fish day.

Yes it was fun, but it was 8 hours of fishing.

Met some nice people, ran into a guy who had a nasty wind knot about 8am. Mason brought extra 6lb braided line so we got him re-spooled with line. Thx Justin, that was a good trade. All we asked was that if he saw any trash on his way out he would pack it out. He was fishing the early morning bite at the water treatment outlet creek and he had a mess of fish. No water flow in the AM, but notice water discharge at 1pm on the way down. But it was slow up the creek. Males are oozing for sure..
Interesting thing that we noticed. While cleaning fish we checked the stomachs of the sandbass on monday, and the three Crappie yesterday. They are not getting much to eat. Just a few very small minnows @ 3/4"inch long seen in some. Most stomachs are empty. Would encourage others to do the same and see if their stomachs are empty. I dont fish live bait, but minnows would be poison for sure. Was really good to see parents with their kids out. Some precious memories made for some.

How is everyone expecting this rainy week to affect the fishing? I think some more current will help a lot, but I think this is going to slow down the fishing for a week or two post rain.

I would switch it up and grab my catfish rods and fish my local flooded creek!
