While fishing for crappie at night pot licker and I were on a school and were catching crappie almost every cast. I got hung on some brush and lost my jig bangI then tied on a pink head purple body jig and to my surprise i Caught a gill and then another and another [Linked Image]

. I then lost that jig and tied on a yellow head purple body jig and the same thing happened more gills [Linked Image]
And even a small warmouth [Linked Image] now for the weird part we were fishing in 20fow with only the moon for light and we were catching fish on the bottom. I also caught crappie on the same purple jig but didnt catch any gills on any other jig color besides the purple jig hmmm

gar...nice report...I guess that confirms that the sunnies are still deep, but it shouldn't be too long now until they start moving up shallow...

Side Note: You might also try a green portable underwater light the next time you night fish! I have had GREAT results using them! thumb

My favorite time to catch quality bluegills and sunfish is at night. I use tube jigs on 132nd or 16th oz jig heads. Best colors for me are chartreuse/black and red/chartreuse. No bobber necessary, just a cast and a slow but steady retrieve nails em!

Thanks for the reply Laker! I like chartreuse with any other color and a solid white are my go-to colors at night but I'm going to add more dark colors to my night fishing arsenal thumb

Sweeeeeeettt! My friend Ms D absolutely loves pink and purple patterns for sunfish. She has a lot of confidence in those colors on some of the places she/we fish and with good reason.
