Looking to upgrade my spinning reel. I'm a Revo guy normally but I had an old Shimano Stradic (it's on the bottom of Cedar Creek) that I really liked. Wondering about the differences between the Stradic FL and the Stradic CI4? The FL is slightly lower priced and you can get it in a faster gear ratio. Can you Shimano guys educate me please? And before you suggest it, my budget does not reach the Stella...

I have been using Shimano spinning reels for the past 20+ years . Switched from being a Daiwa guy when those reels started having quality issues . I have a few Stradic's and really like them ---- but for the money , I love the new Nasci . I have two of them and I think for $100 bucks , they are the best bang for the buck .

I've had the frame on the Ci4 break and went back with the regular Stradic this last time and am very happy with it.

Tom, you have to trust me on this. Go to Academy and get a Lews Laser G speed spin reel for $40. I PROMISE you will not be sad you bought it. I was a Stradic guy and never looked back after my first one. If you don’t like it, I’ll buy it from you.

Just don’t use light line on that Lews, the cheap drag will let ya down when you need it most! It’s “herky jerky” at best.

I’ve had ZERO issues with the drag and fish it year round up to 8.5 lb fish on it. Had several over 3 years and still going strong. They’re beasts.

Does the new Nasci have the anti-reverse switch or is it continuous?

The CI4 is a great reel. That being said, the only advantage it has over the FL is the lite weight. The FL has the overall advantage in terms of Features and specs over the CI4. I have a couple of the FL's (2500 & 1000) and have fished with the CI4's.

Some of the best gears in a spinning reel at that price point. If you have the money to splurge, get the FL. If not, get the NASCI.
