So I have a few questions.. I run a Garmin echoMap 74SV at my console.. i fish the Coastal bays primarily which is why i got one with built in coastal maps.
1- Right now, I have a LakeVu HD card for lake maps. The card is from 2013 (I bought it used in 2016.) How do I update this card to the latest maps? I downloaded Garmin Express on my Mac, and when I plug the card in, it recognizes the unit but says there are no available updates. That's bs cause there are updated charts newer than 2013.
2- If its anywhere near $100 to update my current card, I plan to just get the new LakeVu G3 Ultra. Do any of yall run this card, and if so, how do you like it?
3- Soon I plan to get another 74SV mounted on the front by my trolling motor. Would I have to get a second card for the other unit or will the console unit share the maps?
Thanks

I read that just because I have a Garmin on my new boat that I can’t use and is not user friendly like my hummingbird. I have no clue to your question, but since nobody responded did think if you emailed those same exact questions to Garmin or LakeVu people, one of them would know everything you want to know.

I went from using birds for about 40 yrs. to garmin and I find them to be very user friendly, tons of options on the 93sv plus units.

Thanks I emailed them about updating my 93sv plus units to get satellite overlay and some other navionics info on them, got this as a response. The Navionics agent was correct when telling you that their charts will not work on Garmin chart plotters. You need a Garmin chart for your units. You are wanting to get Lakes in OK, and Texas. Your units the 93sv have built in lake charts. Have you powered the units on to see if they already have those lakes covered. You can also review this website https://lakes.garmin.com/ calling them this week to talk to someone since navionics is not only owned by garmin now but they show lakeve g3 ultra for garmins.

I am no expert but you can download maps and software through active captain or garmin express. Your 94sv if it is not a plus unit they can't be networked to share stuff...With Garmin express it shows me what maps I have and how much it costs to update. Garmin is also user friendly right out of the box. Go to bass boat central and they have garmin board and they can answer all your questions.

Thanks for your replies.
Cash- I find Garmin to be extremely user friendly! If I fished the lakes all the time I'd probably go Humminbird, but for coastal mapping Garmin is far superior over the others IMO.
Hop along- That would be cool if I could get a Lakemaster chip for my Garmin. The LakeVu G3 card you speak of is Garmins "navioncs platinum" (has all the fancy satellite imaging, etc..) I'd love to be able to run Navionics
coach- My unit will share waypoints information if I linked with another echoMap. However, i was wondering if I'd have to buy a second card to use lake maps on my second unit. But then i got to thinking, I'd be better off just getting a 73sv for the front since I'll never use the trolling motor unit in the saltwater.. Also, I do have Garmin Express.. BUT. When i plug in my LakeVu HD card, it says "no updates available." So your telling me Garmin hasnt updated their lake maps since 2013...? I'm 110% sure its user error, but Garmin has no good instruction anywhere on how to operate Express. I also have a Bluechart G2 Vision card (it's the saltwater version of LakeVu Ultra) and it hasnt been updated since 2015, but I know damn well Garmin's last update for the G2 maps was 2019. It also says no updates available..

I would like to upgrade my 2 93sv plus units without spending another 400.00 for 2 cards, is there any way to do this? specifically I just need oklahoma/texas lakes. this is what I got from navionics chat. Serena B Thank you for contacting Navionics. My name is Serena. Who am I chatting with today? Navionics is processing your personal data to answer to your questions and fulfil your requests. Please read the new notice on personal data processing https://www.navionics.com/legal/privacy-policy-notice from Navionics s.r.l. a socio unico. 7:03:40 AM Me allan scott 7:03:58 AM I need some info on garmin maps/cards, just bought 2 93sv plus units and a garmin trolling motor and want to upgrade the maps to equal my platinum card I have on a humminbird. can I do this without having to spend 400.00 on cards to the 2 units? can I download just texas and oklahoma without spending 400.00? 7:06:02 AM Serena B If you have a Garmin chartplotter, I kindly ask you to contact Garmin directly. Currently Navionics charts are not compatible with Garmin GPS chartplotters 7:08:42 AM Me you might want to go look at the navionics compatibility listings, garmin owns navionics. 7:10:00 AMthis is why I am going to call monday, serena as a reading comprehension problem.

Well me and you will both be calling Garmin then on Monday.
Maybe I'm a little bit slow.. But you're saying the Navionics is now compatible with Garmin?
