When I was a kid in the summer mom would cut up onions and cucumbers and put them in a vinegar bath in a big tupperware bowl. We would have them with almost every meal. MMMMM good.

H2O I still love to eat Spam, Potted Meat, Vienna Sausages, Salmon Patties, Poke Salad (if I can find it), Chip (anything) on toast, plus what I call Rat Cheese and Saltine crackers with baloney. Add to the list Pinto beans with Cornbread with Cornbread in sweet Milk, Liver and Onions, fried Gizzards, and every now and then some boiled Okra. Did you know that Spam now comes in individual slices where all you have to do is put it in between two slices of bread with some mustard?
Have to be honest and tell you all of the above is when I am eating by myself because I have a spoiled wife. I hear ya! I just don't eat that way anymore personally. Didn't say i wouldn't eat any of it but choose not to.
Grateful for every sunrise and sunset I get to witness. - Jason

Not at all a picky eater these days but, Oatmeal, can’t stand it now. Wet cement is what it’s like, no thanks. Had plenty of it growing up.
Seemed to have lost the taste for beef liver. Still like chicken livers. I generally avoid anything with canned tuna in it, we had enough tuna salad way back when.
I eat a lot more fresh vegetables than I remember getting as a kid.

My parents grew up during the depression . Dad would say "Poor folks got poor ways" My grandpa grew up in the Depression on a west Texas farm with 9 siblings. He said their measure of wealth was being able to afford to put gravy on a buttered biscuit.

Those were the best. Anybody got a recipe? I was trying to make some using leftover mashed potatoes and it was a total failure.

Cold mashed taters, chopped onions, eggs, flour, SPG. Fry in bacon grease on cast iron.
