After a very sluggish up and down last three weeks of February it seems the fish have started to finally wake up and get to feeding. Dang sure seems so as it has improved the last few days back to what we consider normal action. Water temperature 50-53 Water elevation 615.12 March is giving us some better days on the big lake. Starting earlier this week went out and caught some around the storms. Then we had two boats out and both boats caught fish! And to top it off it was excellent weather and really good fishing for March. Had the same guys one year ago and the highs were in the mid20s and it was frozen day on the lake but we caught some really big fish. One year later nice day light Northwinds you just never know what mother nature has in store for you. The fish were clinging tight to structure and ledges around 12 to 25 foot of water but a couple of times we lucked into a little bit of bird activity up in shallower water helped us have little runs of catching. Spring break officially begins tomorrow and the next three weeks will be boatloads of families and kids fishing! We sure hope we have great action for these youngsters they are our future anglers Had several boats out again today as it is the beginning of spring break and that means itโs time to take those kids fishing. The fishing was fair to great depending on where you were at at what time but we are seeing some activity and it seems like the spring bite has begun. The pattern is pretty much the same...we are fishing anywhere from 10 to 30 foot of water along ledges, creek channels and drop offs near stump fields but if you are there at the right moment when they get active a few birds will help show the way and you can load up quick otherwise it is one here and one there. It sure is great to be putting fish in the boat more consistently!
