That's a lot of work. How much money does the average You Tube video maker make?

I heard it is about one cent per 1000 views. Also there are some advertiser revenues added. I think you need over 250000 subscribers to make any money at it. I might be wrong about this. Just my two cents and what I was told.

Yeah, advertising dollars is not where the money is made. I have my own fishing tackle business making and selling my own fishing tackle. I also teach classes on Teachable based on the things I've learned. The money is made outside of YouTube. You have to think entreprenuerially. Build your own products and services, then use YouTube as a way to build an audience of people to sell to. That way you don't need 250,000. You can have 6,000 subscriber like me and do just fine. YouTube is just a pathway not a destination. People are too fixed on YouTube, and I don't understand why.

If you look at real businesses on YouTube, you'll notice that they don't have many subscribers. That's because they aren't playing the get-subscribers-and-make-advertising-dollars game. That's a joke way to make money. They have real products and services to offer people. They're only looking for the people ready to buy.

Build your business, then build your YouTube channel. The YouTube channel is there to serve your business. I'm always surprised at the number of people here selling baits and tackle, but have virtually zero YouTube presence. It's like having your own TV station. Who cares if you only have a few thousand subscribers when you have your own product line?

I just post when I finally edit a vid. That Somerville vid took 4 hours to edit and I made it last year. Definitely not trying make money from YouTube but people seem to like them and my sponsors like them as well.

It is easy to get wrapped up in the social media aspect, but only a VERY select few who were in early seem to be financially successful.
