Anyone had any luck using these for flatheads? I'm thinking about ordering a few pounds of them and keeping them in my bait tank.

Caught a bunch of channels on them, on trot lines.

They work about like goldfish work. They’re not going to work any better than sunfish, bullheads, carp, or any other popular flathead baits.

I mainly fish black saltys in early spring when the fish really are not biting. There is one problem with them! Gar eat them and love them. Bait a line with them and gar show up. Now I dont mind feeling a gar on my rod but the goal is. catfish. I guess it is time to be honest if I wanted to catch fish and my life depended on it I would carry a gallon of Stubbys cheese bait in my boat. Stubbys catches fish when they are not biting and when they are watch out your freezer fills up. A long time before I got a bait tank I would have Stubbys cheese on my rod. It really is that good. Yes shad and live worms catch catfish and it is their natural food. It is way too easy to buy my Stubbys at Lake Fork Marina. Black Sally’s are very good if you want a bait that will stay alive on the hook. So if that is what you want go get them. Most often my goal is to clean 15-20 nice channel cats over 25 inches long and most often Stubbys is the answer for bait to use. When my kids were young I had saltys in my bait bucket because children enjoy playing on the bait bucket. So how you stop that is get a few crawfish for your bucket also. It is funny I can bait a line with a crawfish and very often a lgreen fish with a big mouth eats it along with a few catfish. Ok I release all bass I catch because everyone wants more of those. I don’t like to throw my cast net but a bucket of large shad works great. I found a place on Fork where I can throw my cast net 4 times and fill a bucket of gizzard shad and they are big. Now I have not been dedicated enough to target blues on fork and I catch a few on Stubbys.

I have some stubbys. How do you think stubbys would do on a jug line?

I’d be interested in keeping Stubby’s on a jugline too. I’m too used to bobbering with a treble hook.

I am assembling some jug lines .I will try stubbys on one and see how it works

Just be sure to use a treble hook on those jug lines. I have put a few out and did good with them.

No offense meant,but if I was interested in Stubbys I would have made the thread about stubbys. I appreciate your info on the black Salty's though
