the ongoing debate about the high school kids that got disqualified reminds me of a situation several years ago in which there was a big debate on another forum....not sure if it was a club tourney or an open but there was a creek on the lake that a tree had fallen across and blocked passage up the creek..
one of guys fishing in the tournament put a chainsaw in his boat the day of the tournament, leaned over front of his boat and managed to cut away enough of the tree to where he could get by and proceeded to win the tournament up that creek...
big debate on whether it was unethical, unsportsmanlike or innovative...
what's your thoughts?

acceptable to use chain saw to cut tree out of the way or not
single choice

I don't see a problem, you're allowed 20k in electronics why not a $150 chainsaw. Everyone has the same opportunity to get one...

Never makes sense to me to make outworking the next guy a rule violation.

There's a rule against that now. The guy was David Dudley. He pushes the envelope. In another tournament, he went and jacked a ton of bed fish the last day of practice because he knew he had a late draw on day one. Didn't want the early guys to catch those fish.

I've muddied up areas for the same reason. It's all a game plan. No different than finding some deep fish and sitting on it all day in practice to keep people from finding it

Very good way to put it. And as Latta said, anyone can carry around a chainsaw if they want.

Some guys carry a pushpole, some don't. But the guys that carry them should not be told they can't use them since I don't carry one.

I always thought it was be fun to have a bass tournament where there is a 50 hp motor limit and no depth finders are allowed.

On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?

The answer is found in Jesus Christ who said "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

Same guys that win with the electronics and gear will be the same ones winning without it.

Reminds me of the Tiger Woods story from years ago,
Phoenix Open I think?? His ball was behind a giant rock and
He had a bunch of people from the gallery pick it up and move it
Because it was considered a “loose impediment”

Lots of discussion then. Don’t know what PGA did about it since then?

I would be good with it. If you happen to have a chainsaw in your boat then you are more prepared than I will ever be. At least in that situation.
