Now that hunting is over and spring time is here, time to get back fishing..
Plan to hit up Conroe in a week or two. Will probably put in at April Plaza or the 830 public ramp depending on the wind. I havent been to Conroe in years.
What's there to watch out for on this lake? From my knowledge it was pretty much open running unless you get up to the north end around Stubblefield. Hows it been fishing?
Thanks

Watch out for shallow areas with the lake being a little low. Below 1097 shallow areas are the biggest threat, north of 1097 watch out for stumps. Just north of Scott’s Ridge there are lots of stumps and some extend out quite a ways on the west side. East side just north of Stow Away has lots of stumps also. There’s a map that’s pretty good at showing the stumpy areas, I’m sure someone will post it. If I can find it I’ll post it. I use the Lakemaster chip and it’s great at showing the shallow areas if you highlight them.
I’ll be out on Conroe quite a bit in the next week or two. Grey, white, raspberry, Bass Cat with white power poles. Say hello if you see me, I put in at April Plaza most of the time.

perfect, thank yall much!! So it looks pretty open to me
I run Garmin so Lakemaster isnt an option. Garmin is a much better unit for fishing Coastal saltwater, which is what I do mainly.
Doesn't like from those numbers that Conroe is doing too good??

That map is not 100% accurate. It close but not spot on. Be careful running on full pad past the 1097 Bridge.

But the rest of the lake is pretty good with common sense? While I'm there I want some good open water to run so I can open that Optimax up.. Running the bays down here dont really give that opportunity

We saw some floating debris in the lake this past weekend. but, yes north of 1097 bridge. Even south of the 1097 bridge with the lake being about 2ft low. You need to be careful, as some docks appear to have plenty of water under them but, they are in about a foot of water with sand bar before them which you can get stuck if you are not careful. Also, the other big danger on Conroe. Is the wash tub affect with waves coming at different directions. Not to mention keep your head on a swivel. Some of the boaters either do not know the navigation rules or just plain ignore them.

Definitely not open to run. Sand bars are everywhere now and I’ve witness 6 boats this year stuck on them. Lake is very different 2 ft down

Cool deal guys, thanks a bunch. I'll take it easy until I get comfortable.. I'm used to running in under 4ft of water anyway

Watch out around the backwater area near the 830 ramp. There is a sandbar that is just barely submerged and can be tough to see.
That backwater area ain't what it used to be thanks to the low water either.
