Anyone care to share some information on how the lakes are fishing. I haven't been on either lake since '07 and will be up there the 1st week of March for a class in Temple. I plan on going up a day or 2 early to fish and possibly a evening or 2 after class. Im also looking for a place to store my boat at night if anyone has any recommendations.
Thanks in advance.

Stillhouse is fishing phenomenal. Belton is a little behind but you can latch into a good smallie or two if you fish hard.

That's good to hear. I've had some epic early spring days on Stillhouse. I never quite figured out Belton while I was up there but might give it another shot. I'm loaded with bigger and better toys now which should give me more options provided I do my part.

Can I get a status update? The rods are rigged with my 1st guesses and boat is loaded. I will be getting on the road Saturday. Hopefully, I can fish some that evening. I will be on the water all day Sunday and Monday in a '07 TR21x2 red/white/black bottom. Holler if you run across me! Water temps? Its still 3' low or so correct? Any hydrilla survive the winter?

The surface temps were in the low to mid 50s before this cold front. Air temp is in the high 20s this morning. A little over 3' low and slowly falling. Use this link to follow the water level. https://waterdatafortexas.org/reservoirs/individual/stillhouse-hollowWe have hard a warm winter in central Texas and the grass looks good out to 15' or so in the usual areas. There will be plenty of bass boats on the lake Sunday. Most of them will be beating the shore line. I would suggest that if you have the electronics to do it that you focus on the outside edge of the grass near deep water. See next paragraph. Fish have been deep and we have boated a 4.5, 6, 7.5 and an 8.5 plus numerous smaller pickles chasing sandies in 40' to 50' in the few weeks. Last trip was Tuesday and it was the first time chasing sandies that a largemouth was not caught. (I'm not retired just between gigs waiting for the new one to start next week.) Water color is green with, to me, a little less clarity than normal. Health of the fish is awesome and you have the chance for a real pig. Good luck and please let us know how you do. I may be there Sunday or Monday myself and if I see you I will say hello.

23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy. Take note—your reward is great in heaven, for this is the way their ancestors used to treat the prophets.

Well TBird.... I didn't make it till dark on Saturday due to some trailer tire issues. Needless to say the trailer is going to discount tire in temple tomorrow for 4 new ones. I was in the wind/on the water from 630 to 430.... got 2 bites! Water temps starting off at 51ish warming to 54ish. My boat is in a slip at the marina so after the trailer gets dropped off I will get back at it tomorrow.

Secondary points 6-16 feet, c-rig what/red senko 18 inch leader. Once I fished the points I would ease to the back of the coves.
I fished the pockets and backs of coves with a jerk bait. This was not as consistent as the c-rig bite but helped fill the gaps. Wind blown pockets were better for the jerk bait.....

You just out fished me on my favorite lake! We had a terrible day yesterday because I refused to let go of what had been working.

I love the lake and had a lot of success years back. I haven't been on it since 2008. The opportunity presented itself so I drug my boat 5 hours to fish it a couple of days. I really struggled Sunday and thought I was fishing the conditions but failed to take the water temp to heart. Monday, I accepted the wind, adjusted my mentality and committed to my spots.... Or hell, maybe I just got lucky. Hopefully I can get lucky again before the weather hits this evening!
