I just wanted to thank a couple of Lake Fork guides helping other fishermen to catch more fish. Mike McFarland and Billy Lawson both do YouTube weekly updates on what is working for them to catch bass and why it works And if it is tough fishing, they will tell you it is tough. Lake Fork is a tough lake to catch bass on consistently, except in the Spring during the spawn and everyone catches fish. They have certainly helped me catch more bass and I appreciate them sharing their knowledge. Thanks for what you do guys!

Even though I have never watched their videos, probably to my detriment, they are providing info that amateur anglers could never figure out on your own. Not everyone who fishes has $500 for a guide. But fortunately, for our wonderful guides plenty do.

Wow, amateurs could never figure out on their own. Pretty bold statement. Lots of good amateurs

dubee, 5 times a week there is someone from somewhere saying they are coming to fork for the first, second, or 50th time, they are not hiring a guide but they are asking for advice.
Apparently not your kind of amateurs.
Of course there are lots of good amateurs!

Seems like this post should’ve been a DM.

But don't leave out virtually every single pro out there! They all have YouTube channels, write columns, do expos, and generally talk to anyone who will listen about ways to catch fish. It’s somewhat part of the job duty because it increases their profiles for their sponsors.

Most are great guys, much appreciative, but not completely selfless. And that’s ok.

My home lake is Fork. Many guides and pro fishermen do seminars obviously, but those seminars are not Lake Fork specific like Mike and Billy's YouTube reports. Fork is about the only lake I fish 2-3 days a week, so I find the info very informative. And I've certainly caught more fish with the info they provide. I've fished Fork since 1990 and fishing guides in general are very closed-mouth about how they are catching fish. You want to know, spend $500 on a trip! Anyway, just my two cents. I appreciate what they do.

Regards,

Bart Armstrong

Yea, I always like Lawson's videos. His loose confederation of guides are pretty good. I think Ronnie Kelly is one of the better guides on Fork. Unlike many of them, he's passed the phase of dreaming to be on the MLF, FLW, BASS ellites or whatever. As he will tell you straight up, he just wants to fish. He;s fortunate enough to make a living at it. Unlike many guides, he's not a guide that you pay to watch fish. He actually works to put YOU on fish. A very affable and talkative guy. He makes every trip a blast. I will keep booking him in the future. Another up and coming kid is Johnathan Bowling. Lawson, et al, finally talked him into moving from Broken Bow down to Fork. He's an up and comer and won one or two BFL's, so he's still got dreams of being a big timer. He might make it. Ya never know, he just might. The kid is a great stick and keeps things moving. He'll be a good one when he gets seasoned.
