Captaining for the HS tourney there this weekend. Not looking for fishing info at all......just wanting to see how to safely navigate.

Our cabin and ramp is near the dam and I usually fish west of mid lake. I would rather not trailer and we will be exploring the dam end of the lake in practice.

So to run the lake.....do you just follow the river channel? Are there areas to avoid?

Near Walling Bend up where the island is... on the west side of the island toward walling bend it gets very shallow very quickly. Be very careful anywhere west of the island.

Also, directly across from the McCown Valley ramp, due west, there is a rock shelf that comes out a good bit further than my Navionics shows. If you aren’t careful and are running toward that point you can go from 30 ft of water to 3 ft pretty quick and you are still a ways from the shore.

Those are the two that I know of to be very aware of. If you have a current map chip and have the ability to color
code based on depth, I would color code anything 10 ft or less and be ready to pay very close attention in the areas above.

The main lake is pretty easy to run


The statement above is all accurate. Also need to be careful headed towards the back of Rocky Creek (towards Uncle Gus Marina). There are giant boulders that have broken off from the rock bluff on the right side headed in. Some are visible, some are not.

There is some timber at the mouth of King Creek and on the left side headed in but it's all pretty obvious. The last major obstruction I can think of is an underwater concrete jetty down by the dam on the Loafers bend side. Depending on the lake level it may be just a few feet under the surface
