Finally back home and unpacked from fishing Crappie Masters on D’Arbonne and while we didn’t do as good as we hoped for we had a great time and are already qualified for the national championship so that’s good! Went over last weekend for the first time and she whipped me pretty good the first day! I had 6 bites in 4 hours and only caught 3 fish! I figured out what I was doing wrong day 2 but had to adjust all my equipment and the way I fish to make that work but came home with a cooler of slabs and had some good areas with big fish located I felt we could maybe make a top 10 finish with. Went back over early Thursday morning to check some areas and a few were still holding good fish. Friday the wind was terrible and one area I really liked we didn’t fish because I thought we would probably tear something up and my worry was well founded at weight in as Dillon Hacker was getting his livescope transducer reinstalled and the side imaging transducer reinstalled as he tore them both off in that area that day! We caught most our fish pitching jigs 20/30ft to fish suspended on timber or roaming in 16-20’ of water. Friday I used thermocline slab bugs and constant pursuit outfitters thump boss in blue and chart and black and chart on 1/4 and 5/16oz heads with the crazy wind but Saturday we were able to pitch 1/8oz hand ties I made in a shad color to them and we probably boated 50-60 fish doing that. We were culling fish by 715 the second day after lines in the water at 7am! Didn’t catch a single kicker fish in 2 days and that kept us out of the money but top 20 qualified for the national championship on the quachita River and we finished 19th! 17th and above got a check! Oh well! Man it was a fun lake and I can scratch that one off my list! We considered going to Grenada in 2 weeks but never being on that lake either and it nearly 12’ high right now I think we might pass! Little man is out for spring break next week and we might slip off for a couple days and see if we can find him a 3 pounder so he can keep up with his dad!! I have a few dates open still in March and April between all the tourneys so if your interested in a trip let me know! I will be on Palestine and Fork for the most part now for a while!

Sat was alot of fun!! I needed that!! fish

I never took any pictures the entire weekend sadly! But if you look on Crappie Masters facebook we weight in on day one at 1:15 into it and 1:08 day 2. Looking forward to returning next year for the national championship to be held there! Going to fish 3 tourneys this year on the Quachita River and hopefully one at Grenada in May along with CAT and the team PCT for sure. Maybe a few others as well! Be it something on a local level or nationally, tournament angling will make you a much better angler for sure.
