The bridge across Bois Arc Reservoir is almost complete. We drove around the bottoms today. Not many trees standing. Will see how she plays when she opens...

They lied about not clear cutting the lake bottom. Not surprising. Another lake Cooper in the works.

Everything I've read said they were clearing the mainlake and leaving the timber in all the creeks. Sounds like how Ray Roberts was built.
I hate photobucket.

I too drove the length of the road next to where the long bridge was being built not long ago....saw very little standing timber or brushpiles like I did when Ray Roberts was being built... I guess only time will tell...

I(and everyone else) am looking forward to Fishing a new lake. Always have, always will. It’s so cool, exciting....fishing a brand new lake with leaves still on the standing timber, easy navigation, explosion of the fish population in the newly flooded waters.....just exciting fishing new waters. Fork was about the start of my serious bass fishing. Just out of school, bought my own boat from US Sports in Hurst(now Fun & Sun) and couldn’t go fishing enough. First Fork. Then: Bob Sandlin, Purtis Creek, Aquila, Joe Pool, Cooper, Richland Chambers, Gibbons Creek......all were going to be the “next Fork” and all were a blast when first opened. Bois D’Arc (“BODARK”) will be no different. Clearly by the amount of clearing it WILL NOT be the next Fork. Already too late for that to happen. Only hope is that hydrilla gets established(very likely) for structure/cover and to filter out that muddy water AND the state does not immediately start killing the grass(even more likely). But it will be fun! “New water”! Can’t wait to get in line!

This lake is NOT being built by the STATE. This lake is being built by North Texas Municipal Water District. You can access all progress reports and videos of construction, and the stocking of the stock ponds. Most all the information can be found on the NTMWD website. I am not disputing the excessive tree clearing or any other statements other than 'who' is building the lake and NTMWD has full ownership. I have several friends who are working on this project and though it is NOT the next Lake Fork the lake is going to be an anglers dream for several years to come.

Right. Be kinda hard to fish it when they suck it dry pumping water out. If it dont come a BIG rain when it is pumped down it wont have much runoff cause the creeks dont run after a small rain

I way-pointed several of the large brush piles in the lake bottom several months ago. I even took a picture of one of them so I would remember how they were constructed.

So everything I said above^^^^^about being excited about fishing a new lake again except edit: “only hope hydrilla takes hold and The NTMWD does not start killing it. Still feels the same though. The grass is probably going to “get it” when it shows up. The more timber that gets cleared the more critical aquatic vegetation will be. This problem is being considered currently by the West Central Texas Municipal Water District or WCTMWD because of pressure to spray Hubbard Creek for hydrilla by property owners.

What are your thoughts of Rayroberts now? No other body of water takes 25-30 lbs to win tournaments nearly year round. Almost always a fish over 9 for big bass too. I love the standing timber being in the creeks, some boat lanes would have been nice to shorten the amount of time it took to learn how to get around without shredding my boat.
