Fished lake Austin with good buddy Jeff! Fished from 9am till 4pm and the bass bite was mighty good. We spotted numerous "bait balls" schools of minnows throughout the areas we were fishing. We threw lures in the schools of minnows and caught nice bass every other cast. Great bite from 9:30am till 11:30am. Bite slowed down the rest of the trip. Jeff caught the biggest bass around 3pm. Unofficial weight was 6.4 lbs. 22" in length. All in all we caught about 20 bass. No sunnies. Most of the bass were in the 2 to 4 pound range. Talked with other anglers on the water and all of them were having a good day. Fish were caught in 10 to 16 feet of water chasing bait fish. (Minnows). Silver/Black Rattle Traps, Hot Spots, and small crank baits Silver/Blue, got good results. Fish were suspended in about 6 feet of water. All fish were released! A great day in Austin for sure. woot

Super ! It sure is fun chasing those "green carp" until the sunfish bite picks up...

Great post Curtis. Good job finding some nice bass! cheers

Side Note: At one time I was fishing Lake Austin a lot. Since the removal of all of the grass beds on the lake I stopped going. The times prior to the removal of the grass beds the sunfish bite was totally AWESOME! With plenty of bass there has to be plenty of sunnies. thumb

I can remember when TPW put the Grass Carp in. It took away a lot of good cover and feeding areas for fish. However I think the fishery is making a slight comeback. woot

Side Note: Fact is the BIG Wake boats,Ski Boats, and other recreation boats bring more MONEY than the fishing boats. juggle I will be fishing Lake Austin again but not during the summer! eeks

Back in the day you could catch Trophy Redbreast by good numbers each trip out! You could also get some nice Bluegill! thumb
