Appreciate the reply, was just wondering how they would hold up to bass fishing. Seem to be affordable.

boocat: If you were buying today, would you go with the KastKing or Piscifun Phantom? IslandJim

I have only used them in a practice situation down at the local creek. Have not really "fished" them yet. I like the both, the phantom does have a duel brake system , the kast king does not but seems to work fine ( single brake system).. I suppose your bait caster experience will play a big part in it. So how is Rport?. I lived in A.P. and Ingleside for 30 yrs. Played drums with the local open mic group in Rport for 10 yrs.

I think the quality of either is fine and I do believe that they do compare to the more expensive reels.

I think the quality of either is fine and I do believe that they do compare to the more expensive reels. I see absolutely opposite thing. For my application, I could recently buy couple of great inexpensive Okuma reels for almost half the price of KastKing. Quality of my Okumas is definitely higher. In my world, KastKing is too expensive for the quality they deliver. Just compare them carefully, and you will see it.

I have 6 kastking rover 50 round baitcasters. First I bought 1 kept it for a year and a half for catfish, stripers, trolling, and downrigging. Never had a single issue with it, so I got 5 more to replace some of the cheaper okumas trolling reels I was using. As for the other kastking bait caster models, I don't know. I would not want to make blanket statements about any brand I think sometimes (especially the cheaper brands) they get a design right and sometimes not so much. I did just pick up a kastking spartacus to try out.

My dad got me a kastking for christmas last year... I dont know which specific reel it is, but its a baitcaster (black with red trim) it has held up for a full year and I am on the lake 4-5 times a month... I can toss the [censored] outta a lure too.

I have 2 Kast King Legends (IIRC) and I bought my Grandson one of them. I have a high end Lews reel that is several years old. I can't tell the difference in performance.

People seem to like them. The KastKing Bassinator Elite is on the higher end of the price spectrum and more in line with Curado/Tatula pricing than Black Max.

I don't know anything about KastKing reels, but at boocat's recommendation, I bought a Piscifun Phantom. It came in two days and was discounted to $58.80, shipped! I've fished it twice now, and it's every bit the reel my Shimano Chronarch is. It only weighs 4.7 ounces, due to carbon fiber/graphite construction. I caught ten short trout with it Tuesday. Glad I bought it before China got locked down with virus. IslandJim
