J-Moe is kind of like the "Yoda" of fishing.

Normally I’m that person that is catching and other people are not. My grandma always said I could get a bucket I water and put a little dirt in it and then catch a fish out of it. But I’ve ran across J-Moe a few time on the creek the last few years and he is a very good fisherman.

J-Moe is kind of like the "Yoda" of fishing. Smart, you are not I see what you're doing. You're saying I look more like Yoda than Brad Pitt. I've already warned you and Ben about Taunting me And even though that lady didn't speak any English, I'm pretty sure she said I looked like Brad Pitt. Or did she say Yoda

Dang J-Moe I was there also yesterday Morning and fished until 1:00 and only manage 5 whites. All on my blue buck tails. Tried a gray and white clauses on my fly rod but no luck. Only people I saw doing any good was using minnows. Wow, that stinks. Too bad you couldn't hang around until the evening bite started. There were multiple times that I caught one and 2 or 3 others were following it. There was also some spawning going on. You would have picked up a limit in short order.

I did see some things in the creek that gave me clues as to why the Clouser is king most days. Well you have made me curious. Sounds like an interesting discussion.

Ok seeing that clouser now I think my #4 clousers are more comparative in size. I tie mine on mustad 34007s so with the shorter shank they come out to the same size. On another note in the murkier water I have dealt with on two whitebass outings the electric chicken and or just about any color combination that has pink in it, except white, has been the ticket. The one day I got to fish clear water the white and grey was what was needed and the fish would touch nothing else.

Me and the wife are going to be at the lake tomorrow and i wanted to hook up with a nice size gar. What would yall recommend? I was thinking of setting up on the banks of welch park. Any better spot that would increase my chances of hooking into a big gar? Thanks

J-Moe, I love talking fishing anytime I can. The thing I love about fishing is that I've never stopped learning and just when I think I have something figured out I get taught a lesson, Lol! I like walking the creek and if I'm not catching I'm always looking for clues. I don't currently fly fish but I'm thinking it's time to learn!

Any better spot that would increase my chances of hooking into a big gar? Thanks Personally, if I were to go fishing for Gar, it would be below the dam. That's the only place I've seen them stacked up.

Any better spot that would increase my chances of hooking into a big gar? Thanks There really aren't any big gar in the lake. I bowfish the lake often and the biggest gar I've ever seen was only a 30" or so long nose. Lots of smaller long nose in the lake for sure. The best place would be below the spillway if there is any flow.
If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

Saturday, Feb 29 is a public lands cleanup day with BHA(Backcountry Hunters and Anglers). There is supposed to be an update email today but I think everyone is meeting at Nails Creek Pavilion at 9am. I haven't seen it posted on here but some might be interested. Does anyone have more info? I was hoping to take my kids out there after our morning baseball practice.
