In a few weeks, a group (3 boats) will be going to Rayburn for the first time and we have a few questions.
We will be staying in the Cassells-Boykin area and we do have the boat lanes chip.

Is there a place to have lunch on the water? (beach/tie up your boat and walk to)
Are there any restaurants/diners close by Cassells-Boykin area for dinner? (if so what time do they close)

There will be two boys (7 & 8) in our group.

Any advise on fishing this lake would be appreciated (we have done research, but any info is helpful).

Thanks in advance

Greg

doubt you get information on the lake right now...

People always talk about a good burger joint in that area, I have never been personally....

We will be taking our annual trip March 12-15

Lots of senkos, babybrush hogs, flukes all in watermelon varieties is really all you need. Flip and cast to the flooded bushes. You'll catch plenty

Lakeview Inn across from Cassel Boykin ramp road has good burgers.
I don’t know if you can get to it from the water though.

Powell Park is the only place I know to beach your boat and walk to the restaurant- but its a haul and I do not know if I'd leave my boat unattended full of gear. The burgers at Lakeview are good and there is a place called Dairy Mart in Broaddus that has some good food as well. Both of those are close to Cassel. As far as the fishing, Jarret shared some good advice already- just don't come down here expecting to catch a 40-49# bag- it's not normal. Good luck and I hope those boys catch a bunch.
