WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO FISH OR HUNT?

Of course, the answer is "Whenever you can go!" But if one can only go for a limited period of time, it makes sense that it be when success is most predictable. That's where DataSport enters the picture.

"Our systems show anglers, hunters, birders and wildlife photographers how to make the best use of that limited time," said John Lehman, President of DataSport, Inc. "For over a combined 85 years we have produced The Fish and Game Forecast and Hannon's Moon Clock to help outdoor enthusiasts know the times that they are most likely to encounter animals, fish, birds and wildlife. The most successful outdoor experiences have been proven to occur during periods of peak animal activity and we can predict when these periods will occur by understanding effects of the moon and sun on the earth and how this affects all living things."

The 47th edition of The Original DataSport Fish & Game Forecaster and the 39th annual Moon Clock are now available for $4.99. Outdoor enthusiasts have the option to add the IOs apps by visiting the App store, searching "datasport, inc." and purchasing "FishCast and HuntCast 2020" (from The Fish and Game Forecaster) or "FishTimes and HuntTimes 2020" (from Hannon's Moon Clock). "Having access to peak activity time information without leaving the boat or woods makes your time more productive," said Lehman, "and there's no need to use location data since the information is valid throughout North America and more."

Free time to pursue your favorite outdoor sport is becoming more valuable. To learn more go to www.moontimes.com.

Fish and critters have very similar habits and both are more active on the average during the first and last hour of the day.

Everything revolves around the moon phases. Learn them and how they affect fish/game. All a person needs to know.

If it was a stupid idea, you can be assured I have already done it

I've kept (freshwater) fishing logs for years. I used to make note of the moon phase. But I quit doing it after a few years
as I saw little correlation to success. I have a friend that has a degree in Marine Science. He says if there is a correlation
it is weak and outweighed by other factors.

As far as hunting, whitetail specifically, moon phase and if the moon is out at night affects their feeding and how much
they are moving during the day.

That's my $0.02 from 40+ years of trying to pay attention to such things.

Best time to fish and hunt is whenever you can get away. Never pass on a day of fun. You can always make up a day of work but a day of fun is lost forever.

Good intel, I am a firm believer barometric pressure does affect the swim bladder of most freshwater fish. I also think a single factor will not stand alone as a determining knock out or reason to fish or not fish.

In actuality, everything in this physical universe runs patterns. It is simply keying in on that pattern. Once found, then you can up your volume. Yes, nothing is perfect, as some things will "alter" temporarily those patterns. Or as some might say in Star Wars, "There has been a disturbance in the Force". Also, I see it as two each species of fish has about 66% to 75% that run a main pattern. The other 25% to 33% run what I call "rogue", meaning they run possbly two alternate patterns. I try to explain it in a comparison to a company (the specific species) that has 3 different work shifts. Naturally they will employ (engage) the most on the standard shift (8 AM to 4 PM) [the 66% to 75% factor]. Next of course will be the Night Shift running its "pattern" of 4 PM to Midnight. And finally, the Graveyard Shift of Midnight to 8 AM. And usually there will be more that run the Night shift as compared to the Graveyard shift.

My Catfish Calendar in the Catfish section is geared upon those of the standard Day Shift pattern of: YellowCats, Gator Gars, and BlueCats. It basically works on natural

Barometric pressure can also be utilized.

The only data I look at is wind velocity. And then only if I can’t find a place to fish out of the wind. I’m always gonna go when the opportunity arises.

Best time is anytime .I agree that early and late will produce more fish but as a guy who has caught several fish over 10#s I can say that not one of my big fish came early or late .all came from 2 pm til 4 pm .go figure

I've learned in my experience that fishing was always better yesterday.
