New to the area, live in Leander, and plan to hit Buchanan, and Belton, I'm still learning both bodies of water.

Outside of G'town toward Granger is a place Called the Steps. Lot of people fish here for the white Run. http://sgflyfishers.com/FishingSpots/SanGabrielAboveGrangerLakeTheSteps/Description.html

As mentioned Bend. On LBJ you can fish the Llano. Have to park at the slab and walk down. Not sure if you can still fish below Max Starke in Below Marble Falls anymore but that might be an option. Before the flood TPWD leased some land and had public access but haven't really heard anything about this. If you have a boat you have Belton, Buchanan, LBJ, G'Town Travis etc....Land access is limited.

I live in the liberty hill area and catch a mess of sandies every spring. PM me if you're looking for a fishing buddy. I'll be going out a couple times a week until it looks like the run is about over.

Most of the spots I like to go are a bit of a hike but it's a good opportunity for solitude and excersize for me and my dog.

If I were in liberty hill and wanted a place close by I'd go to tejas camp. You can walk the san gabriel all the way to Gtown lake

the problem with tejas camp right now is the lack of water. i think lake Georgetown is 8 ft low and there's just not a lot of flow there. of course it's a beautiful hike and it's close
