‘Tough day’
This morning I picked up Colter, Trey, Jose and Roland at Oak Cv Marina.
We made a long cold run to areas that have been productive recently.......found lots of uninterested fish - we caught a few here and there. Mainly hybrid striped bass. This area was 53’.
We moved a bit around the under water point and found the same uninterested fish. (33-55’)
At this point everyone had boated numerous fish ....... except Jose, who could hook them but couldn’t get them to the boat, hooked followed by pulling drag and then gone......
Moved to the next underwater point - same thing. Followed by the next. We only occasionally caught white or yellow bass, hybrid striped bass were about all that were biting along with the occasional blue cat.
Jose still hasn’t got a fish to the boat.
Next and last stop - north shore....light south winds only started yesterday and I had planned to stay on the south side all day .... we set up in 44’ and the hybrids started smashing lures - the last 45 minutes were the best for sure! Pretty constant action of both short and keeper hybrids - live bait got no action.
Jose boated 3 keeper hybrids here, and then owed his friends lunch for such an amazing feat!😜. Him finally landing a fish was the best moment of the trip.
(He might have some bad fishing luck)
Water temp 51
Most fish caught on Zman Streakz 3.75 (shiner was best color)
1 hybrid and a few blues on shad
White bass did not want to play with us today! We boated a few, but nothing like I am used to at this lake.

‘Repeat of yesterday’
This morning I picked up Richard and Jeffery at Oak Cv Marina at 7am and off we went.
Richard owns a fencing business and Jeffery works for Ferguson who is one of my HVAC business suppliers.
We started where we had good hybrids yesterday .... not there today. We caught some small whites and yellows before moving to our second area (numerous stops and depth in our first area, but nothing worth reporting)
2nd area started producing keeper and short hybrids along with the occasional white or yellow bass (47’)
Just like yesterday we found lots of fish, getting them to do more than the occasional lure chase was an issue!
4th area - a few short hybrids and small whites - caught a few snap jigging RSR minnow shaped slabs (38’)
5th stop - pulles the hook on a good hybrid that was pulling drag. Couple small whites and we were out of time. (46’)
Weather was wet/misty today / 100% cloud cover. Water temp 50-51
Zman Streakz 3.75 shiner color caught most of our fish - slabs caught 3-4. Shad caught 2 small fish.
Warning trend starts Friday! Things will pick back up pretty quickly! I don’t expect the water temperatures to do anything but warm after the 28th. The warming waters will start the fish migration to spawn, which will cause the fish to get hungry.
I have never seen it, but reports of 50 acres of surface feeding fish have me excited to say the least! That doesn’t happen in Central Texas.
