The spring edition of the TPWD fishing newsletter mentioned in an article about the white bass run: "The area near Pace Bend Park, where the Pedernales River enters the lake, is always a good bet for early season deep water jigging spoon fishing." I've never tried this technique, but I live about a 20 minute boat ride from this spot.

I'm interested in trying this, but have no clue about where to start. Depth? Structure? Drift? Troll?

Any tips/advice will be greatly appreciated.

I just don't think that you are going to find a better source of information about pelagic game fish in Central Texas than Bob Maindelle of Holding the Line Guide Service. He regularly shares his fishing reports at www.holdingthelineguideservice.com.

Check out these two videos, they will definitely help you get started.

The second one is by Tim Pham of Skunked Again Fishing and features Bob. Tim regularly posts informative videos to You Tube on his Skunked Again Fishing channel. Follow this link to learn how Tim identifies productive water from home saving precious on the water time.

And here is a great in-depth In-Fisherman article by the master himself again Bob.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the plug Clint. The in-Fisherman article is Bob-like! Perfect message and I use every bit of it in my fishing. Tim

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!

Thanks for taking the time to post this info. I've watched/read and bookmarked the links you provided and will be reviewing them several times in the next few days. I don't have the sophisticated electronics shown in the articles, but it will be interesting to try some of the techniques with what I have.

Great stuff-thanks again.

You can be successful with just 2D. The other toys just speed up the process of getting on the fish.
