Need help...

My heating unit is heating just fine. My problem is, the fan on the outside unit will not turn off. It tries to but kind of does this toggling thing than it goes back to turning quietly.

Any help how to get the fan to cycle on and off?

I can offer you no help whatsoever. But, to prove that I did read your post and that I am genuinely concerned about your situation...I wish you the best and hope someone can help you find a fix. If anything it should be warming up over the next couple of days.

Happen to see any ice inside the outside unit? If so gotta get it melted away.

Might also try to reset the system.Turn thermostat off. Turn off all power to your system from the circuit breaker box to the outside unit for 2 minutes.

No evidence of ice anywhere. I turned off the heat inside then shut the power off for a half an hour.

Just turned the power back on and the outside fan came on as well. The heat is turned off inside the house.

So that didn’t clear it up.... thanks.

Yes I have a heat pump but I never use it. I always run on emergency heat. I don’t like the recirculating air with the heat pump.

Mine did that. Can’t remember the switch or rely thing it was. Took them 10 minutes and cost me about 150 for a 10 dollar part probably. Worth every penny. Ha.

If it a heat pump it’s working. If not, pull the disconnect out by the condensing unit and have the thermostat looked at.
No need for condenser while in heat mode on regular split system

Sounds to me like a stuck contactor. Ants, bugs and lizards can get in there and booger things up.

I think this is my problem I just don’t know where that’s located.

I have a Lennox unit. Mine has a red and green light. It is on a circuit card located at the top left side of the outside unit under a small removable access panel.

So you think this board could be the problem? Will the green / red light give me any indication of a problem?
