May I ask how much experience you have on the lake and what I can expect to learn from you? Since you are guiding on the lake, I am assuming you have a bunch of experience on the lake and spend a ton of time there. I really want to learn, not just beat the shallows with a swim bait, so what techniques will we learn if I book a trip with you?

Thanks for the questions Minner Bucket, though from the tone of your questions I sense you are patronizing me and doubt you're seriously interested in a guide trip being that you live 2 hours from Choke. But I'll play along and answer in a more respectful manner than what I'm assuming you're asking in.

I have around 50 days of TOW at Choke Canyon (in prior years) before coming over from Falcon for my winter trips. I've spent the past 30+/- days on the water scouting, scanning, and fishing with quite a bit of success.

You, or others that prefer to compensate me, can expect to learn where and how I have been fortunate enough to find and catch quality and fun fish.

I'm guiding on Choke because I've been able to find and pattern some quality fish that many people enjoy catching. Not because of my extensive experience on the lake. There are many others that have far more experience here than I do and I'd be happy to share their contact details with you if desired.

Techniques I'm having success with are jigs, frogs, crankbaits, Tx rig, shakeyhead, spinnerbait, bladed jig, swim jig, wacky, and jerk baits.

Respectfully,
Brian Parker

Hey Mr. Parker, we have a multi page post with thousands of views in the Freshwater Reports section. Feel free to join us there and you’ll get more publicity for your business.

Do you do any crappie guiding or just fish for Lmb?

Thank you grout scout.

I think my post got moved over here.

I'm focused on LMB this year but I have seen some 17" & 18" crappie

I thought it was a relevant question and didn’t mean to offended you. Ones background is always in question and relative when a few hundred dollars is on the table along with expectations! I figured fishing must really be off at Falcon to make the move to Choke, lots of smaller fish being caught seems like. Who are the bass guides that have been guiding there for a long time? Up until recently, it seems there weren’t any. Good luck in your business.

^ actually a valid question from Minner. I’m starting to think I need to hire a guide, I keep hearing about 100 fish days with multiple 8 pounders from Jared Latta (or whatever his name is).

You know Latta is just trying to direct traffic, as if people are going to stop going to a lake where 40 lb bags and 15 lbers are being caught, SMH! Oh but Choke is on fire for 2 to 3 lbers!

Same I’ve seen in person and in every picture, 2-3 lbers with an occasional decent one!

Charles Whited and Mike Bates have extensive knowledge of Choke and have guided here for years.

My background as a guide started at Lake Austin in 2009 and some of my northern clients wanted to experience the top 3 South Texas lakes in the winter. So I put the work in on Falcon, Amistad, and Choke to accompany their request.
