Hey TFF'ers

Where is the best place to stay on Big Sam Rayburn?

Close to the water with a good Ramp if possible... As well as good axcess to fish areas

I have never literally never been to the lake just want to get away for 3-4 days and fish a new lake...

I'll try to search "Stumpy" areas to stay away from... Hope there are Boatlanes too...I'm a Professional Prop Bender!

Dog friendly is a must...My chocolate Lab "Waylon" goes everywhere with me so...
No one would notice him anyway just thought I would be upfront instead of sneaking him in/out like I have to do at Lake Fork Marina...Kidding.

Thanks in Advance!

I'd check VRBO with a pet. Look for something in Westwood on the south end or near 147 bridge on the upper lake. Beautiful pup.

Looks like a few place to eat close to the Rayburn Inn and a Tackle shop

You should look up Mike and Cathy Wheatley they have a couple of rentals at their place in Westwood. Nice neighborhood with ramp. They should be pet friendly. They are also guides and should have some good info to share. 10 minutes to The Stump and Tackle Shop. Good location on the lake!

Look at Shirley Creek marina, they have some nice cabins. Camping at Hanks Creek is pretty nice too. Both areas are north of the 147 bridge and have access to the Deer Stand and the Canyons.

First time to the lake I suggest staying in the South end. Wide open for your safety.

I suggest going during the week too. It’s still going to be packed everywhere but maybe you avoid the tournaments as well. You might have more lodging options too.

We stayed at Lakeview in Zavalla which is 5 minutes from Cassel Boykin park. Room was nothing fancy but clean and adequate and the park/ramp is great and close to good fishing. Not sure about pets...

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Ken smith has good videos on running lake. Most areas are hard to run but the few that are can be a mess.

I would highly recommend looking in to Tiger Creek Lodge. Very nice people and great accommodations.
