Filleting fish also makes them harder to catch but I guess still possible with the right approach. Unfortunately they don’t fight very hard and start to smell bad pretty quick. bolt

Impossible to know. A 15 lber would almost certainly be over 10 years of age. Probably more like 13 or 14. Up north they can live into their late teens early 20's. Down here, there upper end is closer to 16 years of age. That fish was probably on her last couple of spawns.

That is great fish. As far as the dem Cajuns go I am not one & don't keep any bass to eat. But if they want to keep them & eat them & it is legal then that is there right.

It might be a big secret but I am a lost Cajun and I won't put a knife to a fish much over 2.5 lbs and only on lakes loaded with small fish. Pretty much only keep a few spots on Alan Henry.

But I've never seen so many big fish filleted until I moved to Texas and started fishing Texas lakes and none I have seen were from Cajuns.

I doubt those Cajuns on Falcon were making weekend trips there throughout the year. But since we saw it happen once, they are the problem.

Most of the big bass I see that are filleted are kept and eaten by crappie fishermen. Very few people travel from Louisiana to Texas to catch crappie.

Fishermen only catch a fraction of the fish in the lake and lakes won't be depleted under the current limits and regulations.

What is funny is Louisiana fishermen blast Texas fishermen for doing the same thing with speckled trout in the Big Lake area. So much so they lowered the limit to try to prevent Texas guides from killing so many trophy trout. If its legal, do what you want with your fish. We have more important things to be concerned about.

That's assuming people keeping fish are following the law. I'd like to see percentages on how many people who regularly keep fish to eat also regularly break length and bag limits. I've ran into Cajuns at Falcon on more than one occasion and let me assure you they don't care what the book says. Maybe I ran across the only bad apples in the bunch but I'd bet not.

While we are bashing bass eaters, let’s add in the snow birds to the conversation.

But something that just blows my mind, people here know that blabbering their words on the Internet is the death of many lakes. Yet, we see it over & over from some here....blah blah blah is on FIRE! Then they proceed to post that lakes are on “fire”, while in the same breath, they want to bash people for going to those lakes and keeping their catch. Quit blabbering on the Internet and it won’t be so easy for the snowbirds & Cajuns.

It’s so prevalent Grout, they are just trying to deflect traffic from their regional lakes. The ones that are screaming “lake A” is on fire are not fishing lake A for the most part. If they are, then they ride the short bus. Facebook may be the #1 killer these days, but the “look at me” croud isn’t smart enough to realize what they are doing to a lake, nor are they smart enough to care! # RIG

Right & I don't have a problem with people that catch them legal. I don't keep any bass but that's just me. I just wish they would put the bigger ones back.

First of all, Great catch by Mr. Moore. We are all jealous of the feat. 2nd I am a Broussard. 100% one of dem Cajuns. I don’t keep black bass but will take some spots and a few white perch for the table. I have a place on Rayburn and some of my Texas neighbors will keep most of what they catch and even a few go over the limit. I know some Texans that will buy a Louisiana license just to go catch more and smaller saltwater fish! Don’t make much sense to me. But rather point fingers at Cajuns or rednecks or any other classification for that matter it is really just people and that is just how some are. We hope as our lakes continually get more crowded that most will change their ways and respect the resources we are blessed with or we will all share in the decline.
Go Tigers!!!!!
