Well I have to decide between these 2 engines to repower my Majek RFL 18 ft. Both will have about a 4 month warranty and will be installed by a professional. I live in pearland but the Johnson is in Dallas so if warranty work was needed I’d have to drive to Dallas. The Evinrude is in Port O Connor at vantage marine. I have a house in POC so if warranty work was needed I could take it right to them no problem. My biggest question is which engine has a better reliability and longevity record? Both engines are about the same price installed and everything. This is my first repower ever with my first boat so I wanna make a good decision here.

The 140 has less than desirable reputation for sticking rings.

Oh okay I will take note of that and talk to the gentleman about that and see what he says. He informed me that he is going to take it apart and inspect the engine before he tells me to bring my boat to him. I have been reading and can’t find much info on the 140 Evinrude but I have read about the 115 ocean runner and have heard nothing but good about them as long as you bypass the VRO.
