Not a good idea. Too prone to have air bubbles

I have had lots of luck using Silicon to put the transducer inside the hull. Have not ever had a failure using it. I do move it around a lot when first putting it in place and then place a brick on top of it til it dries.

silicone is great for checking for air bubbles in your fiberglass before you install. make a beaded circle and fill it with water, then place the transducer inside of it to test the placement spot.

That all i have ever used Thanks. You can sand the area and clean it with alcohol then put the Silicon all over the puck and use a brick to weight it down. Easy to move later if you have too.

Silicone has a low density, resulting in lower transmission of energy for the ping sent from the transducer, then an attenuation of the returning signal. This means you get a weaker "paint" of the electronic image the sonar unit attempts to develop from the returned signal. Two-part epoxy, on the other hand, has a high density and will transmit the energy with little loss of signal amplitude.
If you have a situation where you believe that an installation with silicone "works", you may very well, but it's more marginal as compared to the same install had it been done with two-part epoxy.
