This started a few months ago and is pretty loud and non stop. Going into an Ear - Nose Doc later but curious to those here that have it and any remedies that worked.

Have it from time to time. No DR visit for it yet.

I've had it for years. Let me know what the Doc says, please.

Happened to me once after I popped off a shot from a little .380 with no hearing protection. Doc recommended a specialists friend of his. That Doctor did some testing, told me I had about a 40% reduction in one ear within a certain range... forget the details. He gave me some prescription that he said might help but only time would really tell he said... took about 3 months but eventually it got back to normal.

Lesson is...DO NOT SHOOT without hearing protection. Thought since it was a little gun it would be ok, wrong! The sound wave hit just right (or wrong) to do some serious, thankfully not permanent, damage.

Safety First! Wear protection gents!

The ringing in my ears is in the key of E.
Makes it easy to determine what key a song is in.
It probably drives non musicians crazy but I kinda think of it as a free tuner. woot

+1. It never quits, just varies in how loud it is.

Man, if I could listen in your ear, I wouldn't need an electronic guitar tuner. smile When I was a kid, back in the stone ages, the Dial Tone of the phone is what we used as the "E" to tune with.

mine got a whole lot better when I got the current hearing aids, not sure why but it is not nearly as annoying as before.
I have a high pitched whine type, learned to ignore it over the yrs. then it got bad.

roflmao

It was mostly a joke Bob.
I still use a tuner for my guitars.
I can listen to a song on TV and guess the key 9 out of 10 times. At least when I pick up the acoustic I keep beside my recliner I usually know the right key before hitting a chord.
It might be the tinnitus or it could just be years of playing music.

Me too. My right ear is so bad sometimes I can't hear music when using my earbuds from that side.

Had it for years, my ear dr said there’s not much you can do for it, some hearing aids will help cancel the ringing but not solve the problem. I sleep with a fan and take a small fan in luggage on trips. Caffeine also contributes to the ringing

I finally got myself an appointment at the VA to get my ears checked out. I knew my hearing wasn't right when I got out of the AF, but it has gotten progressively worse over the years. In a restaurant or bar, I cannot pick out a single conversation. If there is any background noise, I have to turn my head to point my ear at the person talking.

I've always been able to ignore the tinnitus, but it has gotten worse in the last year or two. Not sure if it is because I identified it and now I'm just noticing it, or if it is actually getting worse. At times it is almost like I can feel it as much as hear it.
