Saturday Feb 8, 2020: Went on a scouting rum on south end of lake. Caught 40 white bass including my last 8 casts. Here's what I found: I started at Saint Annes Point East - none there; then Swing-set Hump - none there; next Flag-pole Point and found a school in 17 fow. Caught 7 before they left - all 13 to 15 inch fish. Next went to 60 Acre Hump and caught 2 more. None at #13 Hump. Next to Pitts Point, Greenhouse Ridge, East Dam Hump, Dam Hump West of Pole and none at these spots. Next tried Campbell's Hump and found some - caught 2. Nothing at Dam Drop-off. Then found some on Dam Ridge in 23 fow, Caught 12 there. Last stop was Staubach Hump. Found a good bunch there and caught til I reached 40 fish then left for the house hungry and tired. All fish caught on #4 Mepps - some fishing straight down on the bottom and some casting out and working Mepps back to boat along the bottom. Thumping the boat helped fishing straight down. Didn't need it casting out and reeling in.

When you say #4 Mepps which Lure are you referring to? I went to their website and it seems there are many options.

Cedar Creek Lake has risen rapidly to only 4 inches low - up roughly 2 ft within the last week. The lake rose suddenly like this in 2017 to full on Jan 19 and again in 2018 to full by Feb 25. So, I thought i'd check posts just after those two years when the lake suddenly filled up. What I found was that structure fishing for whites stayed good in 2017 but was off for a couple of weeks in 2018. So, I guess the only way we'll know for this year is to get out there and see what we can find.

Hey Dennis! Hope you are well. Curious about your Feb 8 trip.
How log was that trip in total? You hit a lot of spots!

Austin, good to hear from you. I think it took about 4 hours. Winter structure fishing is slower for a couple of reasons. First, the concentrations of fish are not as large. I think there are a lot more fish suspended out in deep water that requires dead-sticking skills to catch. Second, the fish that are on structures are scattered and hugging the bottom. They also seem to be roaming around the structure I suppose foraging for food. So, when I find a small school, I'll catch a few then they have moved. This requires more time searching for them than actually fishing. I have been out 3 times since the lake filled up and caught 19 in 5 hours, 25 in 3 hours and 25 again in 3 1/2 hours. Good news - I love my new boat!
