Quality inn is pretty cheap, and one of the last hotels in town headed towards the lake.

I have rented one the houseboats there several times, and used it as a place to stay and a base from which to fish. You can move the houseboat to a location on the lake of your choice or just stay at the marina. Anyway it is nice to be on the lake without the daily trailering the boat to and from the hotel, and if you just want to take a break it is really nice and convenient.

Lake Amistad rentals have really nice mobile homes in Box Canyon area, as well I have rented a few houses on VRBO

Error, looks like the houseboat rentals are history on Amistad.

You said no Ramada but they have boat parking and a damn good breakfast, + Whitehorse has a cold one for you when you get back. 🤷‍♂️
