I put the Hobie PA 14 in at Kimball Bend Park. Its a easy launch. The shad are up in the river thick. Fished down to the mouth of Nolan River and back. I ended up with 7 very large Sand Bass and one 23 1/2 Striper. The Sand Bass were caught on pearl cocahoe soft plastics and the striper was caught on a silver and blue rattle trap. I would think the fishing will explode soon in that part of the lake/ river. Beautiful place to fish and be in the kayak!

Great report. I fished yesterday afternoon from about 2 till dark and bloated about 50 large whites. I caught them.in a variety of different colored slabs and small swim baits. We kept 10 for the frying pan and released the rest. I launched from Steele creek and fished along the river channel between there and whit bluff. Ran the thumper and drifted. They were suspended at 20 to 30 foot in 40 ish foot of water. The bite was supratic bit consistant all afternoon. All the whites were big..14 -15 " and plenty healthy. I've heard some reports of striper in the river but not sure how far up.

Ckolar the striper I caught was about 100 yard from the railroad bridge. I talked to some guys at the mouth of Nolan that had been catching stripers earlier Saturday morning on flukes right of the bottom.

Is that ramp suitable for boats? Or is the water level too low?

I used the ramp at Cedar creek and it was Okay . Just make sure you go straight in and out with the ramp because it get real shallow off to the sides . Best part is was free .

Nice Craig. I think i saw you near mouth of Nolan. Bet that 23 incher gave the yak a bit of a pull.
