I've been boatless for a while, and I am getting boat fever again. I've had Skeeters and those are great boats, but I just want to try something else. I'm looking at the Ranger 520L w/ 250 Merc, or even the Z519 with Merc 225. BassCat Puma or Cougar with 250 Merc, or Phoenix 20' with same engine. I fish by myself most of the time so having a bigger boat is not a big concern. What happened to the Champions, Falcons, and are the Charger boats still built Im not an expert on boats, so I would appreciate your input Thanks again, Tom

I'm a Phoenix driver but as mentioned above they are all excellent boats. It's a matter of finding the model that's laid out the way that suits you best. Welcome back to the money pit...lol.

Any of the ones you mentioned are excellent boats and as mentioned find the one that meets your needs.

The brand that has a good dealer close to you is very important

If I was looking at Basscat the Lynx would be the one I would look at.
I fish on the edge and stay out of the middle

Sartin Marine at lake Fork is a Falcon dealer. I have a 2020 F21 TE and absolutely love it! Its very well laid out with a couple of unique features like the way the rod lockers open so you can access your rods and gear from outside the boat and the way the deck lids open up all the way across the back for easy access to all pumps and batteries. But like Jarrett said above, your dealer should be a very important factor in your decision making.

Thx Fellows, I agree that the dealer you buy from should have a good service record. If Bass Cat, the Lynx would be the boat for me, but they are expensive. Even the Puma or Cougar rigged out the way I want, is more money than the 520L Ranger. I am leaning toward the 520L, you only live once right? The service that I have received from Fred and crew at Diamond Sports Marine on my Skeeter has been great. Hopefully, by next month, I'll be in a new one. Thx for your thoughts

cougar & Puma are nearly the same. Lynx is a tank but very pricey. The Eyra is a little shorter than the 3, very fast, & rigged out it is decently priced. Crazy to think 68-72 is “decently priced”. The Phoenix 721 is equivalent to the Eyra but 9” longer and a couple mph slower. Personally, I would stay way away from Ranger, Nitro, & Triton. BassCat 1 & Phoenix 2 for me.

If you only live once take a look at the lynx and hang a 300 on it. Andrew at Ross in lufkin can fix you up. Good luck.

Just about every boat built today is pretty dang good. Best thing to do is take a few rods and go to the dealers and crawl all over looking at everything. Climb up on the front deck and put the rods out to see if they will be cramped up at your feet, sit in the seats and see if they are comfortable. Narrow your selection down and then go ride in them and drive them if you can. Pick the one you want and you will be happy.

Get the Ranger 520 and be done with it. You're not going to find a better boat.
