My wife has a meeting in Waco at the end of March. I've been wanting to explore that area so I am going along with my boat. Anyone familiar with this water? Not looking for spots to fish just wondering about running up and down these rivers. Is it safe to run? Any places I shouldn't go? Thanks for the help.

The mid bosque is safe to run all the way up to the old bridge piling. After that it gets really shallow and you will hit the rock bottom if you get outside of the channel. I am very familiar with the water past the bridge piling and I still have a hard time staying in the channel. By the end of March the fish will not be in the shallows past the bridge piling, so I would not even attempt it. The north bosque is clear to run as long as you stay in the middle of the river. You won't hit ground if you venture away from the middle, but you may hit a stump or two. The north bosque has a mud bottom. The mid bosque has a mud bottom up to the bridge piling and rock bottom after that. Hope that helps.

If you want to fish the bosque below Waco it is safe to run all the way to the dam. Just be sure to stay closer to the outside bank on the bends in the river. Some of the bends get pretty shallow on the inside of the turn. You can launch from the Community College directly in to the Bosque River. There is also a boat ramp where the Bosque dumps into the Brazos. The boat ramp is in Brazos Park East. If you launch from Brazos Park East you will see the mouth of the Bosque directly across the river from the park.
I come from the water.

Cannot remember the ramp(the only one) where I launched several years ago but had a very good ride fron it down the Brazos to dam and back up into the Bosque was also good. much history to experince . My grandson I i still talk abot the trip. All thebringes in McCeallencounty are in the city limits Of waco.CHeck the flowing spring at the suspension bridge.

I think I would give Tradinghouse Lake a try.

Fish south end of the lake at mouth of Hog Creek. Pretty sure that’s on the wrong side of the Lake Waco dam!

The recent rains have the creek and the river up and muddy, lots of trash floating too. Fished it saturday with no luck.

you can launch at Brazos east and go up the river a good ways but watch you sonar it will get shallow. If you go to the downtown area be aware of the no wake zones, they will call your TX number in and you will get a ticket. It's a nice ride down to the low water dam. If you go up the Bosque you can go all the way to the back side of Waco dam. On the weekend there will be game wardens out on the water. I have not been on the river in the past month, the bass were not biting to well. With all the rain we have it looks like chocolate milk now.

Thanks Harvey. That's exactly what I was looking for and where I was planning to fish. Hopefully things will clear up in the next few weeks. I won't be there till the end of March.

I got stopped even though I was going dead slow. Went back and looked for the No Wake signs and never found any. What is up with that?
