Choke canyon lodge, but don’t get caught up in all the hype. The lakes not that great, like some are making it sound.

Choke has never been a lake that you can count on to be a steady year in and year out bass lake. It's had very few years where it was good and maybe one year or two where it was a great bass lake since it was impounded. Our old bass club used to have a saying,....."If you are thinking about catching a lot of bass, when you get to Choke, just keep heading south until you get to Falcon." It's ok if you just want to do a day trip, but if you are driving any distance say further than Austin, you are better off just continuing on to Falcon.
Just one more cast!

I fished Choke once in the 90's, it was a great trip. If it has rebounded I would like to fish it again.

It’s decent, would I drive from Louisiana??? Hell no. I’d go Toledo, Rayburn or Fayette. But if you want to drive that far, come on over. Make your reservation ahead of time, town is full of refinery workers. The lake needs about 10’ of water to come in it, then next year it would be great.
