I want to start with a thank you to David Welcher for posting the Blog. in the Off Topic giving you a day by day blow of our trip. He did a super job starting on a very bad weather day on Feb. 5 leaving Forth Worth in snow and Ice. Go to the OT at about page 11 or 12 to start the read and see all the beautiful pictures of our trip each day which includes crossing the boarder in Nogalas, AZ.. I took 3 boats this trip with the MO. Team of 3, Justin Stroud's Triton with David and My boat with Dave Egge. The snow and cold reached all the way into AZ. with cold nights at Lake Oviachic the fishing was off about 1/3 as far as numbers. I had the big fish for the week at 8.5 and a couple of 7's. David's big fish was 7.1. We had fifty bass in the 6 lb. class. Threes, fours and fives caught was in the hundreds for the 7 of us fishing.

I caught the Big Fish on my Custom Baby Doll Jig with the dome eyes and the BB's under the eye domes. She was spawning and full of eggs with lots of battle scars. She hit the jig in about 12 ft. of water on a steep slope. Most of our biggest Bass came off the rock islands and structure close to the river channel up the river. Main lake fish were just beginning to get cranked up next to deep water on every point. Every point in the back of over 100 coves had quality fish on them. The spinner bait was good to me with two over 7 lbs. the first hour of two mornings. I boated 30 bass on my Baby Doll Tourn. spinner bait on the first morning Feb. 8th. Brush Hogs was our go to bait in Watermelon Red with my hand poured Lizards in Watermelon Red filling in the gaps on rocky banks. We all used the short Crig to slow roll these two baits on straight rocky and steep banks. We Trigged them in the bushes on the sides and ends of points with all weights pegged. We tried at least 20 other baits and techniques just for fun; but when your partner is putting those Brush Hog and Lizard fish in the boat one after the other it is hard to stay with those other baits. We used crank baits, senkos, flukes, worms, under spin swim baits, jigs and spinner baits.

Team MO's pictures will follow; as they have not Emailed them to me. Our next trip is March 5 and returning March 15. You are welcome to contact me about going and making the drive to the best lake that I have found in Mexico for consistency.

Snow and Ice traveling.

Is my memory bad or does Mr Welcher always have sandals on in all his pictures. Winter or summer? Can honestly say I’ve never had a Goretex suit on with sandals! Looks fun.......except the cold feet! laugh

He never complained. David is one tough Guy and I truly appreciate all his help he gives to us Old Guys. It is a major chore each morning at the lodge.
- Cooking Breakfast
- Making Boat Lunches which consists of sandwiches, Deer Sausage, crackers, mustard, and general snacks.
- Untarping the boats and setting up for the day of fishing.
- Putting all the boats in the water in the morning and taking them out in the afternoon.
- Making mixed drinks each afternoon when we get the trucks parked.
- Unloading Ice chest and restocking the refrigerator for the next day with water, beer, tea and juice.
- He is up at 4 AM. and has us on the water at 7.

David is always one step ahead of everyone in knowing what has to be done. I truly appreciate everything he does for the group on these trips. I just wish he could make each of the trips

Great report, Don. That’s some good fishing.
