So let's ask the question:

If you were in the area (airport) and this happened, would you jump in to help the cops?
Would it be different if it were in a restaurant or store?
What about on the street as your walking to your car or store?

I've always felt that I would.

I always said that I would jump in to help or run into a burning building before 1st responders arrived to help people get out,,,,,but I never really knew for sure until I woke up one morning and looked out the window to see what looked like heavy fog although it was a hot summer morning. I opened the door and smelled the smoke and saw a neighbors house halfway down the street with flames reaching 10-12' above the roof. I knew an elderly couple lived there, one bed ridden, and I never thought about anything except making sure they were out. Luckily a gal across the street saw me running and joined me to help. Entering the house the roof was on fire above us, the elderly lady had gotten her husband out of the bed and was trying to help him get out but was coughing badly in the thick smoke. We each grabbed one of them and took them out front and verified that no one else was in the house as the first police car arrived quickly followed by many fire trucks from several cities. Everyone was ok although we were coughing and used a little oxygen. So I know for sure now that I would jump in without a second thought and I imagine that anyone that honestly says that would also do the same.
